Dr. Suzanne (“Seppy”) Seplow is the Assistant Vice Chancellor for Student Development & Health. A division within Student Affairs that provides programs and services designed to support students reach their full potential and achieve their life goals, specifically championing the health and well-being of all Bruins. The departments within Student Development & Health are the Bruin Resource Center (BRC), Residential Life/First Year Experience, Ashe Student Health & Wellness Center, Center for Accessible Education (CAE), Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS), Resilience In your Student Experience (RISE), Case Management Services and Campus Assault, Resources & Education (CARE). Suzanne’s passion for developing inclusive communities that fully engage our diverse UCLA students and fostering the growth and development of each Bruin is captured within the areas she has the honor to serve.
Originally from Newton, NJ, Suzanne received her Bachelor of Science degree in Natural Sciences/Biology with a concentration in Education from Muhlenberg College in Allentown, PA. She went on to receive her Masters degree from Teachers College, Columbia University in Student Personnel Administration. After 9 years as a practitioner working at University of New Hampshire, Dickinson College and UCLA, Suzanne returned back to academia. In 2001, she earned her Doctorate in Educational Leadership from UCLA. Suzanne started at UCLA in 1995 and hasn’t left! She feels very fortunate to have grown her career here at UCLA. Seppy is a Bruin, through and through!
Seppy also enjoys being in the classroom and has taught in the Fiat Lux, Honors and the Master of Education in Student Affairs (MSA) programs. She continues to teach the Student Affairs Administration course and serves as the Student Affairs Director of the MSA program. She also serves as a Faculty in Residence.
Seppy is blessed with her two beautiful children, Tesfanesh and Elsae who teach her meaning ful lessons everyday. She enjoys sports (now watching more than playing!), card games, family adventures and hanging with friends.
